There is enormous confusion among teachers and performers over the role of breathing in voice production, pitch production and in controlling volume. This confusion is understandable given the proliferation of advice that contradicts both physiological function and acoustics.
This new course will look at how to develop responsive breathing in accordance with the Estill principle of “the breath must be free to vary according to what it meets on the way out”.
How should this be interpreted, what does it mean and how can we apply it to the issues encountered by performers of all levels.
The day will include:
- Top 5 Common Misunderstandings
- The key difference in ‘breathing for life’ vs ‘breathing for voice’
- Common breathing problems and how to address them
- The problem with ‘traditional’ teaching – where it works and where it fails
- Teaching and training tips
- Short online masterclass
- Q&As
