Overview

Speech and song are complex mixtures of noise and tone from which our brains almost instantaneously derive linguistic meaning and emotional context.   We modify these noises and tones to make ourselves sound more "convincing", "chummy", "respectful", "stylistically appropriate", "authentic"...  you name it!   We are all sound-production/sound-analysis "machines", but how well do any of us actually understand the "stuff" of sound?

This Advanced Workshop will be a day devoted to a light-hearted romp through the acoustic (sound science) principles that are present in our speech, woven into the Estill Voice Training curriculum, and displayed on the screens of Estill Voiceprint Plus.  Bring your curiosity and a sense of humour as we delve into the core of the Estill Voice Model: production and perception of SOUND.

The day will include:

·         What is voice?

·         Why an understanding of acoustics both matters and makes a difference in voice and singing teaching

·         Explaining resonance and projection

·         Practical application

·         Questions and answers

Suitable for: For people both new and familiar with the Model, looking for clarification and consolidation; singers and actors; teachers of voice and singing; students and professionals.
